Letter from your Recruitment Team
Hey Aggies,
Welcome to Panhellenic Recruitment at UC Davis! Our community is composed of nine Panhellenic chapters, one associate chapter, and countless passionate members. We are so excited that you’re interested in getting involved.
We know that you want to know as much about formal recruitment as possible before you dive in, so we really want you to exploit all the resources at your disposal. The DCPA website contains information about each of our chapters, the officers, and frequently asked questions regarding recruitment and greek life as a whole. If you are unsure about continuing with the process please feel free to reach out to the Panhellenic recruitment team at any point with questions and concerns you may have!!
Joining a sorority has so many benefits during and beyond your college years. Sororities provide a powerful support system to help you navigate through some of the most exciting and difficult times. Beyond the built-in support system, becoming part of the UC Davis Panhellenic community can provide so much more; our members are involved in research, clubs, organizations, jobs, sports, and everything in between, with many even holding leadership positions in their own chapters. What we all share is a common bond through our involvement in Panhellenic, which connects our sisters in innumerable ways, both in the college years and beyond.
Hey! I’m Alex Wyman, this year’s Vice President of Recruitment. Moving to college was definitely a nerve wracking experience and I was unsure how I could make the most of my college experience in the short time I was here. Going through formal recruitment was the beginning of an amazing start to my four years. I was hesitant on if I even wanted to be a part of a sorority and at the last minute decided to sign up, that was the best decision I could have ever made. I have formed life long friendships, found my support group, and have become involved in so many amazing things because I joined the panhellenic community. I hope every single one of you can get all you want out of this experience!
Hi! My name is Samantha Wang and I am your Assistant VP of Recruitment. I am so excited for you all to embark on this journey of finding your home in the Panhellenic community! I remember standing in your shoes and being so nervous for the start of Recruitment but with the help and support of my Pi Rho Chi and the Panhellenic team I was able to find the chapter for me. I am forever grateful for all that this community has given me from executive positions to life long friends. While I know this process can be daunting, just know we as Panhellenic as well as each chapter are here to help you navigate this experience. It is hard for me to imagine my college experience without being a part of the Panhellenic community and I can’t wait to see you all flourish and find your place!
Now that you’ve heard about our own experiences and have gotten to know us a little bit more, we wanted to share with you our two main goals for this year. Firstly, we want to work together with all of Panhellenic to guarantee that everyone feels comfortable and safe throughout recruitment and beyond. It’s important that we ensure every single person feels heard, valued, and welcomed within the greek community. Secondly, we want to see that everyone going through formal recruitment leaves with a good impression of our community, even if they end up deciding not to join it. This experience should be one that impacts you for the better no matter how it ends!
Although we know that the formal recruitment process can be intimidating, it is also a unique one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet others who share your same values and find a tight-knit community on this vast campus. Wherever this experience leads you, be proud of yourself for broadening your horizons and having the courage to take part in this exhilarating ordeal. Have fun and enjoy the process — we can't wait to meet you!
